I posted the following comments on the One Degree Facebook page yesterday and they touched many of you. For those who missed it, I pray the following makes you smile~
I was in the kitchen fixing lunch when I heard my little girl start to squeal and giggle. I found her on top of the bathroom counter, delighting over her image in the mirror.
Friends, what emotion do you feel as you look at your own face and body in the mirror?
I will be honest, there are days I do not delight in my face or my body. I evaluate what I see and compare it to what the world says is beautiful and acceptable.
To have a 3 year old mind set in this area again…
I am praying for God to help us find joy in our reflection. We are made in the image of the One who is Beautiful and He, God, delights over our bodies the way He has created them to be.
I encourage you look up the following verses: Psalm 139:14, Zephaniah 3:17, and Psalm 45:11. Now go and look at yourself in the mirror as you read these verses. (Seriously. I dare ya!) I bet you’ll be smiling at your reflection. Perhaps a needed giggle or two will slip out 🙂
Some additional TRUTH about you:
Your response to the Facebook post above reminded me that all of us struggle with feeling truly beautiful and significant. Some of us are experiencing tremendous heartache or rejection right now. For some, our dream isn’t happening despite our best efforts. For others, prayers remain unanswered. Emotions like doubt and frustration towards God are creeping into our thoughts.
I understand this. Oh, how I understand…
The spring of 2012 was a discouraging season for me. But God met me in my pain and encouraged me through a specific truth, which brought about this short video message. I encourage you to sit with me for a few minutes longer and listen. Remember that:
God’s independence has everything to do with your significance.
May you never forget that the independent God of the universe chose to create you. He doesn’t need anyone or anything, yet He wants your heart to love Him.
Your love for God moves the heart of God.
Blessings delightful and significant one,
