I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am right now. I feel like it’s Christmas Eve, or that I am about to bungee jump off a tall bridge…ok, I am being a tad dramatic here, but my heart IS very excited. On Friday July 20th, I am flying to North Carolina to attend the She Speaks Conference. I will be spending the weekend with 650 women who desire to glorify Jesus Christ through their speaking and writing ministries.

Why I am going
I am going to this conference so that I can grow in my ability to glorify God here, at One Degree. I pray that this weekend will help me grow in my ability to minister to you as well! During the weekend I will be attending workshops relating to various aspects of writing and speaking. I will also be giving two talks during the conference. These will be evaluated. (yikes)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”~Philippians 4:6-7, NIV
Would you pray for me?
Besides preparing for the conference, we are finally moving into our new home tomorrow. (Will one of you please say Amen!? We have been living out of suitcases since June 9th…) I am indeed giving thanks for our new home and for the opportunity to attend She Speaks. The verse above is what I have on repeat in my mind, since these next 2 weeks will be a tad bit busy.
I would be honored if you would specifically pray for:
1) Protection: of Chad, Jackson, and Katie while I am away. Please pray for my safety while I travel to/from the conference.
2) Health: for all four of us. Toddlers can be germ magnets 🙂
3) Peace/Guidance: for my heart, mind, and nerves as I prepare for this weekend. This is the first time I have ever attended a conference like this! I also know that my stomach will be doing the tango prior to giving my talks. (FACT: even extroverts become nervous!) I will also be absorbing quite a lot of information. Please pray that I will be able to discern how God wants me to use it in the weeks and months to come.
4) Servant’s heart: I also desire to love on and encourage the other women that are attending. Please pray that I will be open to the Spirit’s prompts and guidance throughout the entire weekend. I also hope to share the love of Jesus with the hotel staff and airplane passengers/crew. May they see Jesus in this imperfect vessel!
I thank you for your prayers. I look forward to what God is going to teach me at She Speaks. I desire to speak and write about Him for as long as He allows me to. I have been blessed by starting One Degree and from connecting with all of you. I can’t believe all that God has done in this tiny corner of the internet…praise Him!
Finally, please note that I will resume the blog in a couple of weeks. I look forward to sharing with you about my weekend in North Carolina.
May the words of my heart and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to our awesome God (Psalm 19:14).
