Jesus said:
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.”
~John 15:9 ESV
I sing the following words to my babies as I put them to bed:
“Jesus loves me this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong.
Yes Jesus loves me,
Yes Jesus loves me,
Yes Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so.” ***
This is one of the most amazing songs ever written. It is simple. Simply profound, that is.
Jesus loves you. Remain, or abide, in His love.
This is simple, but we make this hard. We strive to feel loved. We forget that we are His beloved.
Please stop striving. Jesus’ love for you is not dependant upon:
-
how good or nice of a person you are
-
how many followers you have on Twitter
-
your tithe amount
-
your grades
-
how other people view you
-
how your children act (or don’t act)
-
your successes
-
your feelings
-
anything else I could choose to list here…
Stop looking to these to validate whether or not you are loved. Jesus loves you because you are you. The Bible tells you so.
Be encouraged:
If no one compliments or seems to need or notice you… Jesus sees. He loves you.
If your young child isn’t developing “like” everyone else’s child… Jesus feels your pain, fears, and frustration. He loves you.
If your “numbers” or grades aren’t impressive… Jesus doesn’t rank, reject, or compare. He loves you.
If you believe that whatever “sin” or “sins” you’ve commited are awful and cannot be forgiven… Jesus was willingly crucified for them. He most definitely loves you.
I could go on, but I encourage you to chew on this simply profound truth today. Before you go on with the rest of your day, remember that Jesus loves you.
This is simply profound.
So remain beloved.
Remain.
*** “Jesus Loves Me” was originally penned by Anna Warner. The song we sing today was composed by William Bradbury in 1862. I did not write the lyrics myself, in case you were wondering.
Kelley Palomino says
So needed this….and just when I was having a good pity party.
“Abide in MY love” a wonderful reminder.

Kelley: The other day I found myself at a pity party as well. I was not resting in and recieving His love for me. I had made my relationship with Jesus “difficult” again. I praise God that He used this verse to minister to you. Have a blessed day, His beloved! Just remain, just remain…:)
Adele Goldstin says
Because there is no “person” on this earth whom we can see, feel or touch, who loves us like Jesus, I think we forget that He can do nothing less. He is “love” and we are the ones He chooses to give that love to. Whar a wonderful reminder that no matter what I do or don’t do, He still loves me! That makes me what to shout woohoo! at the top of my voice. Bless you, my dear friend
Tracy says
Shout away!:) You got it Adele. Blessings to you as well.
Kela Nellums says
My husband and I talk a lot about how simply gloriously we’re loved. Thank you for pointing back to the simplicity that we can/should easily comprehend.
No more making it hard! I simply accept!
Tracy says
Hi Kela! I appreciate your comment. This week has been full of distractions and comparison for me (again). So I am with you sister- no more making it hard. Returning to simply accepting God’s lavish love and acceptance of me. Have a blessed weekend 🙂
